About Norwalk Reads!: Founded in 2003 Norwalk Reads! has been active in supporting the literary needs of the youth in Norwalk. Since the beginning of our program, we have distributed more than 60,000 free books to more than 20,000 children. Norwalk Reads! includes an active literacy-outreach program to Norwalk children -- from birth through high school, as well as their parents. Administered by its Steering Committee and Headquarters Coordinator, Norwalk Reads! is supported and assisted by Visiting Professionals, Sponsors, Outreach Partners, and Volunteers. Norwalk Reads! partners with Reading Is Fundamental (RIF) -- the nation's oldest and largest nonprofit children's literacy organization. Norwalk Reads! Mission Statement: Norwalk Reads! seeks to provide the opportunity and encouragement to read through the distribution of books and providing literacy programs to all children in Norwalk, with a focus on those at risk.
